SLCC’s 3rd annual student philosophy conference

Filed under: Uncategorized — Huenemann @ 3:18 pm

It is our greatest pleasure and honor to invite you and your students to participate in the 3rd Annual Regional Undergraduate Student Philosophical Conference, hosted by SLCC, “FEMININE RESPONSES TO TOTALITARIAN IDEOLOGY: HANNAH ARENDT AND AYN RAND”. The Conference will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Oak Room, Student Center, Redwood Campus.

The intention of the Conference is to discuss the philosophical responses to the dangers of political totalitarianism from the two most prominent female philosophers of the 20th century, who emigrated to the United States from Europe, Hannah Arendt and Ayn Rand. Student reports, dedicated to any philosophical aspect of this very complex problem, are welcome.

The official call for papers will be forthcoming later in the summer. The Student Board of the Conference Directors expresses its hope that the Conference’s subject will be of the greatest interest for your students.

Have a very nice, successful, and enjoyable summer, our dear Colleagues and Friends,

Alex Izrailevsky, Director of the Conference

Liz Martin, Student Director of the Conference
